Favourite Beetle Shoes

In my birthday post you may have spotted my beetle shoes. I posted about these bad boys nearly two years ago. I had spotted them during a visit to the & Other Stories‘ shop in London and fallen hard. They were too expensive, too perfect to use and they had to be mine. I made a plan to return the next morning to make the purchase, but it wasn’t meant to be and I had to dash off to the airport instead. I searched religiously for these shoes. In a moment of weakness I even offered to buy them off a person wearing them on Instagram.

Somehow I stumbled upon them one day. It was over a year later.

There they were, in my size (my comfortable size too, not the tight one) and half price. I searched for any flaws but found none.  I couldn’t believe my luck! The money seeped from my account as I returned home to safely place the shoes on a shelf. There they sat for a few too many months, just so I could admire them. It took a long time before I finally got round to the thought of actually wearing them.

They are truly one of my favourite purchases of all time and always make me feel put together but with a quirky edge, just how I like it!

The next shoe has a similar story. I spotted these while in Hong Kong last February, in the Mong Kok district where sneaker stores are filled with trendy kids sipping on iced teas. They don’t appear much at first sight, over-sized snake print, monochromatic, yes. But nothing special.

I just had to move an inch to spot how wrong I had been. These sneakers light up when hit with a light source, a full rainbow flash. Needless to say I was smitten. I decided not to get them as they were expensive and wanted to make sure they were authentic for that price. I ended up finding them online, and after the first order was a bit wrong (too big, plus glue stain) Sarenza sent me these guys. I love wearing these and just watching my feet as I pass under street lights. They are subtle enough for Stockholm, but once again, those flashes of colour make my heart flutter. Plus they are super comfortable which always helps. They still have them in some sizes if you wanna be my shoe twin. I went for my smaller size here and it’s perfect!

Here is an instavideo of them in action!

I love these two pair of shoes, and they have both been worth every penny spent!
