I turned the ripe ol’ age of 27 exactly one month ago today, and the best present was that my London-based best bud and her boyfriend came for a weekend trip! I felt like a happy 5-year old for most of the day which is exactly how one should feel on their birthday. Here is a look back at my birthday weekend.
Panda arrived late at night, clad in awesome 70s print polo and admiring our mobile wifi. Who wouldn’t?
I whipped up some cocktails, violet gin fizz using my homemade violet syrup of course!
Probably the prettiest drink I know. We ended up eating dinner and chatting until late at night when Tom arrived for a couple more drinks before it was off to bed.
The next day it was present time and my inner child got me to put everything on at once. Panda got me this gorgeous ruffle collared blouse, so that went on, and for the full birthday outfit I topped it with this great printed dress. The pink thing is a fantastic gift that I will do it’s own little post on later. I call it Wormy and it is a super long and luxurious hot water bottle. Perfect for someone who craves heat, and is prone to migraines.
I really do look like I have turned 7. So happy!
Once we had eaten breakfast we got ourselves on the bus to town.
We stopped by Weekday where we realised this one was basically wearing the same outfit she was admiring. Also, silver shoes every day please!
Then it was off to admire the pink trees at Kungsträdgården. The weather was a bit iffy but the blossoms were in full bloom.
Happy as a clam
Even the boyfriends had to admit that romance was in the air…
I got this epic hair..shield(?) thingy from Panda as well. You fasten it through the metal with a pin on a chain. Love!
We had our finest of shoes on. My dream shoes that I magically got hold of from & Other Stories last year, and Panda’s fantastic Zara ( I think) silver strap shoes. If only we wore the same size..
Panda grabbed a souvenir blossom to press
It was time to get moving..
To Gamla Stan, the older part of Stockholm
We went to Wirströms an Irish pub for traditional Irish food. Nachos and chips.
Someone decided that shots were due, a classic British birthday treat. Luckily it was tequila so no complaints here!
We left, happily full and admired the magical shop windows on the island. This guy could happily live on my sofa.
I love this window, it’s a candy cane store where they hand make the candy on site.
Panda Frida heaven!
We then rushed to Moderna Museet where I was not allowed to take photos with my camera. It was closing so we had a 15 minute dash around, which to be honest can be enough sometimes. Stockholm Kulturnatt was on which meant that there were events around town, including at the Etnographic museum where this manga character was playing Japanese drums. We rushed through this museum too, making wild plans to travel to Japan together.
This guy ♡
Stockholm was photogenic as always
As was this pretty lady!
Statues were being attacked by mega gulls
Life was good, and we were off to eat meatballs!
At no other than “Meatballs For The People” of course!
Ready for moose!
The Brits ordered in some bubbly, so cheers were in order
Food arrived and we were ready to dig in!
Seriously recommend this place, amazing Swedish meatballs and that is coming from an actual Swede.
Bubbly and meatballs, life in the fast lane
When we were done these suckers order coffee…
I had spotted the brûlé on the menu beforehand so made sure to make room. I was not disappointed.
The night then continued with cheesy bar Vampire Lounge which is the oddest combination of cheap cocktails, disengaged bar staff, haunted house props and modern pop songs.
Marre joined us for the evening
As did Madde, who Panda and I went to Glastonbury with 2014. Reunited and feeling great!
All in all, a great weekend and it was super fun that I had the chance to spend it with such great friends. I’m going to be in London in July, so am looking forward to adventures to come!
